Welcome current
and future breeders alike. This is a very exiting time
for the Black Hereford Breed. I get so many e-mails and phone calls
asking for information on starting to breed these fine cattle. First
off we
want to thank you for visiting our web site. We are sure you will find
something
that will capture your interest.
We have been working very
hard over the past 5 years to bring together a strong group of
Registered Black
Hereford Females that will raise a big strong calf every year. We have
focused on certain criteria such as udder quality, thickness, maternal
instincts as well as disposition and phenotype. We also ultrasound all
of our
yearling cattle for Rib Fat, REA, and IMF% scores. It has taken time to
put this herd together. We have accomplished this by the
use of Artificial Insemination, Embryo Transfer, along with our own
high quality herd sires, and Hard Culling of inferior animals.
This is the first year we have bred our entire herd of Red Hereford
cows to Black Hereford bulls. Also Our Black Hereford cows were bred to
our BR Keynote 0035 bull which was excepted as a genetic breeding bull
on black cows. The long
yearling heifer (above center) WR Black Pearl
T125 is a
Keynote daughter. She is due to calve next
spring 09. The Young bull calf on the left is WR Lewis II
U147-4060 BD 02-15-2008 his sire is JN Lewis 4060 he is a
very stout young bull we have high hopes for. Semen will be available
in Spring of 09.
We are incorporating the same
breeding program as we did with our Red Hereford Cattle. The advantage
for the Black
Herefords is that we can use our already High quality Red
Hereford Cows along
with our Registered Black Hereford Bulls thus instilling a
tremendous genetic advantage. Through ultrasound we have found out that
the Black Hereford yearling calves marble much higher then then Red
Hereford cattle. Also all the calves qualify for both the Certified
Hereford beef & Certified Angus beef Programs.
Our Registered Black Hereford Bulls
are among the best in the breed and they are available through our A.
I. Program. We have a limited amount of bulls available each Fall.
Look Around and
feel free
to contact us if you have any questions. We
would be happy to hear from you.
